Krita is digital image creation software. It isn’t a replacement for photoshop, not because it is an inferior piece of software but because it isn’t trying to be a replacement for photoshop. Krita is for creating art from scratch.
My favorite thing about Krita is that you can have vector and raster layers in the same image. This flexibility is what keeps Krita the first program I think of when I need to create any sort of image.
Taking a moment to familiarize yourself with the keyboard shortcuts in Krita is a must. I like to have a notepad open that lists them all for easy reference. If an action I do frequently doesn’t have a predefined keyboard shortcut adding one in the configure Krita menu is straightforward.
Once you open the configure Krita menu don’t get overwhelmed. Krita is incredibly customizable software and it allows you to change far more things than you might be used to. I like to keep a running quick reference file of what each setting changes and what I think of each setting. This lets me figure out what things I want to change without getting overwhelmed or lost in the weeds.
